This project consisted of additions and remodels totaling approximately 135,000 square feet of building space. Jackola Engineering and Architecture and DLR group collaborated on the design of the facility. The existing gym and locker spaces were remodeled and a training room/laundry appendage added. The new fiber cement siding clad addition contained the majority of classroom spaces including chemistry lab, science, special education, construction trades, and consumer science rooms. It also included teacher support, cafeteria, kitchen, and building administration areas. A portion of the existing precast concrete building was also remodeled into a music and arts technology center. These acoustically sensitive spaces included a multiuse black box theater, choir, instrumental, and ensemble recording rooms. Walls separating these areas utilized STC rated walls and special detailing to minimize sound transfer between spaces. Site traffic patterns were modified to reflect the building changes and parking layouts, stormwater, and grading were also addressed.
