This 8,000 SF pediatric dental office contains space for 5 enclosed operating rooms and a total of 12 operation chairs. It also includes office/reception support spaces as well as more specialized areas such as sterilization, imaging, lab, and infant oral health. Special acoustical design elements including sound deadening sheetrock and isolation walls were incorporated to address the owners concerns for children. Three imaging suites were designed with lead glass windows for radiation protection. Gases used for oral work are contained in a fire rated room and Jackola coordinated with local officials. Equipment in the various spaces required close coordination with both mechanical and electrical engineers. Special attention was placed on a child?s interaction during their visit. A lower water closet and sink were used as well as a separate set of kids doors ? all designed to enhance their experience and make them feel comfortable coming to the dentist. Built-in furniture was designed to minimize hazardous spaces for small children. Floor finishes focused on various patterns and a race car theme to attract the children?s attention. Skylights were incorporated to bring natural light into interior spaces. The exterior materials consisted of stone, fiber cement siding, and asphalt shingles. The site was designed to allow for a future building addition and to provide the owner the option to develop a separate lot adjacent.
