When approached by the client for this local credit union, a primary goal was to reflect the community they serve with the building design. The 9,000 SF facility features three drive through lanes, a large lobby and teller area with comfortable reception area, corporate offices, meeting space, a large community room that is secure for after hour use, and an employee exercise area. The timeless northwest design with timber, rock, and board and batten siding fits in with the heritage of the area. The wood framed structure features large high windows, interior transoms, and a central clerestory for excellent natural lighting. The exterior envelope is well insulated with deep eaves to reduce heating and cooling loads.
The mechanical system features a highly zoned ground source heat pump arrangement including a radiant floor heating system in the lobby area to keep the floor dry during winter. The space is mechanically ventilated employing energy recovery from the exhaust air to heat the frigid incoming air during our colder seasons, decreasing energy use while boosting indoor air quality.
The building security system employs door access control as well as alarmed entry and CCTV systems throughout. Extensive coordination during the design with the bank and security equipment supplier has resulted in seamless integration of the equipment during construction.
