Watford City, City Hall Renovations

The growth within western North Dakota resulting from oil extraction activities in the Bakken shale formation accompanied by demand for expanded government services necessitated enlarging the Watford City Hall. Because of site limitations the expansion required demolition of a 2,264 SF portion of the existing facility situated between and adjoining the police department and community center. In its place a new 5,355 SF in-fill structure was designed to blend aesthetically with the flanking facilities while responding to the programmatic goals of providing additional lobby and office space. Also included in the project was the complete interior renovation of the existing 1,980 sf police department resulting in enhanced security, improved public access, and individual offices for select personnel. The outdated heating and ventilation systems in the police department and city hall were replaced with roof mounted high efficiency gas-fired units with DX cooling and a heat recovery ventilation system.
