Jackola worked with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes to develop a master plan of their forestry department. An additional 10 acre parcel was purchased next to their existing lot containing the horticulture, division of fire, and helitack buildings. The master plan breaks out 4 phases of construction and combines the forestry and fire departments in a single location. Phase 1 includes 2 new helipads, a ramp from the taxiway, and a new hangar. Space was allocated for 3 SEAT (single engine air tanker) planes on the ramp and a maximum of 6 SEAT planes within the hangar. This phase was developed to allow construction to occur early before the summer fire management activities. Phase 2 focused on a new division of fire building and a paved forestry vehicle laydown area. The new building encompasses offices, dispatch center, campus conference room, map storage room, locker facilities, and weight room. Phase 3 would involve a small addition and remodel of an existing building onsite. Phase 4 includes a small office addition and shed for the seed division, and maintenance shop and storage shed for the construction crews. Total project building is approximately 55,000 SF.
