About Us.

Built on Relationships. Focused on Impact.

For more than 50 years, we've partnered with communities to create places where people live, work, learn, and gather. What started in Kalispell has grown into five studios and three offices, serving the Pacific Northwest, Northern Rockies, and Northern Plains.

MORE THAN DISCIPLINES

Different Perspectives.

One Purpose.

At Jackola, we believe strong relationships lead to better projects. Bringing multiple disciplines together from the beginning improves coordination, reduces risk, and helps clients make informed decisions. Our integrated team works collaboratively to solve problems early, align priorities, and drive projects forward with clarity and confidence.

We focus on real world solutions that support a realistic budget, schedule, and long-term performance.

Our Story

Jackola is a family-owned, full-service engineering and architecture firm rooted in the communities we serve.

Founded by Thor Jackola, our firm was built on a simple but enduring belief: projects succeed when people are treated with care, honesty, and respect. That belief shaped a company culture grounded in client advocacy, collaboration, and practical problem-solving—values that continue to guide how we work today.

Making business personal is more than a philosophy; it’s how we help mission-driven clients navigate complexity, manage risk, and deliver projects that perform. By pairing deep technical expertise with clear, consistent communication, our teams serve as trusted advisors—helping clients make informed decisions at every stage of a project.

Across our studios, Jackola employees are united by a shared commitment to Keep Connected, Make it Personal, Exceed Expectations and Find Solutions. These values define how we collaborate with one another and how we show up for the clients and communities we serve.

“Thor was a pillar in his community. He treated clients, employees and whoever he came into contact with like family, especially when it came to his business.”

Our Mission

"To serve as a trusted partner to our clients and communities by delivering thoughtful, coordinated design solutions that balance vision with practicality. We approach every project with care, accountability, and a commitment to doing what’s right — even when the path forward is complex.

We believe strong outcomes are built through clear communication, collaboration, and follow-through. By staying engaged throughout the design process, we help clients navigate challenges, make informed decisions, and move projects forward with confidence.

Above all, our mission is to create lasting value — for the people who use the spaces we design, the communities they serve, and the clients who trust us to guide the process."

1973

Founded in Kalispell.

Jackola was established with a simple mission: provide practical engineering solutions built on trust, responsiveness, and lasting relationships. Those values continue to guide everything we do today.

1980s

Expanding Our Expertise.

As Montana's communities continued to grow, so did our capabilities. We expanded our engineering services, taking on larger and more complex projects while building long-term partnerships across the region.

1990s

Integrated Design Takes Shape.

Recognizing the value of collaboration, we expanded beyond engineering by adding architecture and additional design disciplines. Bringing expertise under one roof allowed us to deliver more thoughtful, coordinated solutions for our clients.

2000s

Growing With Our Clients.

To better serve clients across the Pacific Northwest, we opened an office in Vancouver, Washington, while strengthening our Montana roots with a new location in Bozeman. Our growth has always been about more than adding locations. It’s about staying connected to the people and communities we serve.
