An existing slope along Columbia Falls Stage experienced a slope failure caused by rapid melting of valley snow and a culvert that was in need of repair. Jackola was engaged to provide design and limited construction services for the realignment and reconstruction of a portion of Columbia Falls Stage Road. Jackola developed several road alignment concepts for review, worked with geotechnical engineer to develop recommended solutions to address slope stability and improve drainage . The solution resulted in realigning the road approximately 20 feet to the east and installing 3 new culverts with slope drains to discharge runoff at the bottom of the slope. Construction drawings were provided to show road centerline, alignment, grading, drainage improvements and cross sections.
